What a difference a day makes!

The difference in Bill's state between yesterday and today is truly amazing. He went from not being able to recognize me or his friends Kathy Pezdeck and Pat Smiley yesterday to being more-or-less alert and aware of what's going on around him. He was happy to see Lee and Eileen, our friends. He said several times he was starved and would like some real food; he appeared quite envious when the discussion in the room turned to choosing a Thai restaurant for dinner. When we left he asked us to "bring back some food" from the restaurant.

They might have to amputate the ends of four of his left fingers and I am totally horrified, sad, and confused! How did this happen? Could the doctors have done more to prevent this from happening???

  1. It was so nice to meet Bill's sister Besty and see Bill looking very well considering all that has happened in the past 15 days. Lee did not get to speak to the doctor on call but tried to help explain things to Kris and Besty. We watched silly tv programs with Bill, who was alert and asking to switch the channel. Bill will have a bigger challenge ahead of him with pending open heart surgrey to repair the leak. Bill is positive and upbeat. We wish Bill well. Eileen and Lee Perez
