Talking to Dabney--- he suggests we need a case manger or hospitalist or patient manger/ tracker to take all the info we get and make sense of it. let's ask the ombudsman. have no medical experience and i can be here for dad as his support but the larger picture and med info might be better coming from a pro.

  1. Yes, talking to the ombudsman sounds like a good way to find out if a single person can be assigned to track all the information. I would have thought his primary care physician, Dr. Phillips, could have played such a role. I think Dr.McKinney has been trying to do that and has provided a lot more information in recent days. When the medical condition is as complicated as it is in Bill's case, a case manager should be assigned.

You are doing a magnificent job as your dad's support person.

  3. Have been trying off and on to post a comment or sign on without success - maybe this will work. Just to say how glad I am that Abby is there, and that you all are. Also that I'm finally more or less on board. Have been having the same thoughts as many have expressed and really glad to hear Janet's contribution on the co-ordination thing. Like Arlene I thought family doctors used to do this but in something so complicated a specialist in handling this role would be welcome. Bill surely does have one of the most important things, a caring support community. Glad to be part of that, and to at least be on the other end of a phone line to listen whenever anyone wants to talk.
