this is Abigail writing . the physical therapist called me ( i am at my mothers house, Betsy is at the hospital) and said they are working on a plan to help Dad. they are starting by getting him into a 'cardiac chair' and out of bed every day. the cardiac chair can become totally flat and parallel to the bed. they will slide him onto the chair and slowly lift him into a sitting position. that's where we are starting. the physical therapist tried to have Dad sit up on the edge of the bed, but this was very difficult for him so the chair is the best starting point for him.
