"They kidnapped me here"

Over a period of several hours today AM, Bill told me, little bit at a time, that he was kidnapped and that he had been through horror. He wanted us to go home.

Then he fell asleep.

Around 2pm, the kind, patient attending rheumatologist, Dr. Chao spent nearly an hour with me and Betsy (Bill's sister) going over details of Bill's conditions, from the heart failure, scleroderma, to kidney problems. He thinks that Bill will likely lose his finger tips. He explained, though, that the hand surgery will be last on the priority list. Right now and for some time to come, the doctors will be concerned about his kidney and heart functioning.

Dr. Chao also explained that Bill's delusions are transitory owing to toxins in his brains and/or a phenomenon called ICU psychosis.

By 7pm, after returning from his dialysis, Bill's mental status was better. He no longer thought he was kidnapped. What a relief!!

Betsy left around 7.30pm to return to Georgia. It was wonderful having her here!
