hi Abby here,
Kris and I had a meeting with all the doctors, head nurse, dietitian, head of PT, Cathy Parker (ombudsman), and case worker (for after placement). We got alot answered and immediate action--
they are working on having him get into the
1) cardiac chair daily (this is something that had slipped into the cracks) 25mins today after more than a week of not getting up at all.
2) they are keeping the nursing more consistent. meaning having the same nurses whenever possible. we have Henry again (dad really likes Henry and he does a great job) and overnight last night was another good repeat. they will have nurses on that have worked with him before when ever possible. so far so good.
3) blood culture has not grown bacteria in 4 days! Also the fluid around his lungs is not 'infected'. this is also great.
4) he has gained 5 lbs in a week. that is progress.
i'll add more later if i missed anything.
overall this was really great. the meeting was intense, but we got answers and they are working with us.

  1. Fantastic! Way to go!! I am sure the meeting was tiring, but I appreciate you both being like a dog with a bone!! The physical exercise/activity is so important. You want him building muscle weight and not just simply gaining fat weight. Understanding what is happening physiologically is a relief to me and I know really helps you all help Bill. Again, I appreciate you wringing information out of the caretakers and the getting the ombudsperson involved!
